Most budgeting apps ask you to hand over your most sensitive data, every transaction, every habit, and simply trust that a company will keep it safe and honest. **PennyPro** was built to challenge that bargain. It pairs *AI-driven forecasting* with the *tamper-proof integrity of a blockchain*, so you get genuinely smart insight into your spending while keeping ownership of your financial data. Built in a weekend at the **ASU x Sui Hackathon**, it won the **Best Use of AI** award, a nice validation that the idea held up under real scrutiny.

### Predicting where your money is going

The intelligence at the center of PennyPro is an **ARIMA** model (*AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average*), a statistical method for *forecasting from time-series data*. You upload your transaction history as a **CSV**, and PennyPro studies the patterns in your past spending to project what your future expenses are likely to look like. Instead of only telling you what you already spent, it helps you plan *ahead*, spotting where you are trending toward overspending before it actually happens.

### Turning numbers into pictures

Raw transaction data is nearly impossible to read, so PennyPro translates it into a dashboard of clear visuals, each doing a specific job. **Pie charts** break down where your money goes by category, **radar charts** map how efficient your spending is across areas, **line graphs** plot the predictive forecasts over time, and **bar charts** compare potential savings side by side. Powered by **Pandas, Matplotlib, and Statsmodels**, these turn a messy spreadsheet into *actionable intelligence* you can actually act on.

### Why it lives on a blockchain

Here is the part that made it stand out. PennyPro is built on **Sui**, a fast and scalable blockchain, with smart contracts written in the **Move language** to handle transaction validation and user identity. Because the data lives on a decentralized ledger, *no central authority can quietly alter it*, and every insight is derived from records you can verify. That marriage of AI and blockchain is the whole point: the forecasts are not just accurate, they are **tamper-proof**, so you can trust both the numbers and where they came from.

### Built in 48 hours

Under the hood, a **React.js** frontend delivers interactive dashboards and talks to a **Python and Flask** backend through **RESTful APIs**, with **Flask-CORS** keeping the two layers in sync across platforms. The whole thing is modular, so extra models or DeFi features could be added later without a rewrite. Everything rests on three pillars, *security, transparency, and intelligence*, and pulling all of it together during a **48-hour sprint** is exactly what earned PennyPro its recognition for innovation and effective use of AI.
