Echo Prompter
Invented Echo Prompter, a voice-activated teleprompter for seamless, engaging presentations, leveraging real-time speech recognition for smooth script navigation. It enhances the virtual meeting experience by 27%.
Every teleprompter has the same flaw: it scrolls at a fixed speed, and you are forced to keep up with the machine instead of the machine keeping up with you. Speak too slowly and the text runs ahead; speak too fast and you are waiting for it to catch up. Echo Prompter flips that relationship. It listens to you talk and scrolls exactly as far as you have spoken, so the script always sits right where your voice is. That one change lets you keep natural eye contact and a natural rhythm, and it made virtual meetings and recordings feel measurably smoother, a 27% improvement in the presentation experience.
### It scrolls at your pace, not the other way around
The magic sits in the Web Speech API, which does real-time speech recognition right in the browser. As you speak, Echo Prompter continuously matches the words it hears against your script and advances the text to that exact point. There is no fixed scroll timer to fight and no delay to fall behind, so even a long speech stays perfectly in sync. It is a genuinely hands-free teleprompter: no clicker, no assistant scrolling for you, no glancing down to nudge the page.
### Make it yours
Echo Prompter is built to adapt to how you actually present. You can tune the text size, scroll speed, font, margins, and color themes for both text and background so it stays readable in any lighting. For people using a real reflective teleprompter rig, it supports horizontal and vertical mirroring. A language selector enables speech recognition in different languages for speakers around the world, and a Show Recorded Text option gives you live transcription feedback so you can check your accuracy and pacing while you rehearse.
### Runs anywhere, nothing to install
There is no setup and nothing to download. You open the web app, paste your script, and start talking. On-screen controls let you start, pause, restart, or clear the script whenever you need manual control, and the responsive design means it works just as well on a desktop, a tablet, or a laptop propped behind a camera. That lightweight, browser-native approach is exactly what makes it easy to reach for the moment before a call or a recording.
### Open and inspired
Echo Prompter is open source under the Apache-2.0 License, and its repository on GitHub welcomes contributions, bug fixes, and new ideas. It was inspired by projects like Fabian Michel's Teleprompter, extending that foundation with interactive controls, deeper customization, and stronger recognition. Accessibility ran through the whole design, so people with reading challenges benefit just as much as polished presenters. It is a small, focused example of how web-native APIs and a bit of real-time language processing can make speaking in front of a camera feel far less stressful.
