Created $HOST, a community-focused DeFi token powered by the Binance Blockchain that forms part of the expanding Hashberry ecosystem. It was the first cryptocurrency token coded partially in Kannada.

The Hashberry Token ($HOST) was a community-first decentralized finance (DeFi) experiment built on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) as part of the wider Hashberry ecosystem. It was meant to be more than another coin: it was an attempt to tie technology to regional identity, to show that a blockchain project could carry a culture with it rather than flatten everything into the same generic template. ### The cultural milestone What set $HOST apart was a genuine first: it was the first cryptocurrency token to be partially coded in Kannada. That choice was both symbolic and practical. Symbolically, it planted a flag for linguistic and cultural representation in a space that overwhelmingly defaults to English. Practically, it was a proof that blockchain code could speak a regional language and still remain technically sound and interoperable. The ambition behind it was big: to take the Kannada community and its identity and put it on a global crypto stage. ### How it was built Technically, $HOST was written in Solidity, the smart contract language of the Ethereum Virtual Machine, which BSC is compatible with. The token followed the BEP-20 standard, so it worked cleanly with existing BSC wallets, decentralized exchanges, and DeFi protocols. The contract implemented the core building blocks you would expect: minting, burning, liquidity management, and community governance. Building on BSC meant low transaction fees and fast confirmations, which made the token cheap and practical to actually use. ### What holders could do Around the token sat a small DeFi framework. Holders could take part in governance proposals and steer the direction of the project, and they could put their tokens to work through staking, liquidity provision, and yield rewards, earning passive returns while helping keep the network liquid and healthy. The idea was a platform where the community had real, tangible influence rather than just holding a ticker symbol. Culturally resonant branding and multilingual documentation were meant to lower the barrier for newcomers across India and beyond, especially people encountering DeFi for the first time. ### Looking back honestly The reality is that the ambition behind $HOST outran what it managed to achieve. The dream was to lift a regional community and its language onto a global blockchain stage, but the momentum, adoption, and staying power that vision needed never fully materialized, and the token was eventually archived. It stands now as an honest experiment: a reminder that a meaningful idea and solid engineering are not, on their own, enough to build a lasting community around a token. What it did leave behind were lessons, about transparency, about community-first tokenomics, and about how much harder distribution and adoption are than the code itself, and those lessons quietly shaped how later Hashberry work was approached.
